Should you elect physical therapy before surgery? The answer is yes according to the findings of researchers who compared two approaches to cervical radiculopathy. Researchers concluded that“Structured physical therapy should be tried before surgery is chosen.” The first group of 31 participants underwent a surgical procedure called anterior cervical compression and fusion followed by a physical therapy program. The second group of 32 received the same physical therapy program only. After 24 months, both groups showed significant reduction in neck and back pain as published in Spine.
